By the end of this guide, you'll use Notion AI to draft success plans, improve onboarding templates, summarize call notes into account briefs, and generate first drafts of customer-facing documents — all without leaving the workspace where you already do your documentation.

What you'll need

  • A Notion account — free tier works for the basic features, but AI requires a paid plan ($10/mo Personal Pro or above)
  • Your company may already have a Notion team workspace with AI enabled — check with your manager
  • Time needed: 20 minutes to explore all AI features; ongoing 5–10 min per task
  • Cost: $8/mo (Personal) or $15/mo (Plus) — AI add-on included in most plans

Step 1: Access Notion AI

Open Notion and navigate to any page. Notion AI is triggered in three ways:

  1. Spacebar in an empty line → "Ask AI" input box appears
  2. Highlight text → right-click → "Ask AI"
  3. Click the AI icon (sparkle icon in the toolbar or sidebar)

What you should see: A text input with "Ask AI anything..." placeholder. This is your AI interface.
